The fact that these people are willing to show off their horrible personalities on national television is beyond my realm of understanding.  What’s worse is that these people came from someone; someone RAISED them.  Who are they?  What are their occupations?  Do they have successful lives?  How and when did they lose control of their kid?  I would love to see just one person I know on one of these shows.  Who out of my friends could you see on one of these shows?

Another Election Day

Another election day is upon us and once again, we are stuck in the middle of a media-biased, political party-slanted, straight-lined ballot decision.  I do not agree with everything Bob McDonnell stands for, but I am back where I always am at this time of year: I just have to vote for the candidate that I agree with the most.  Often times, this means I give up my abortion stance.  (Which I recently established as: “I don’t think that would be a path I would choose for myself, but I sure as hell don’t want to make a law that says others can’t do it.”  Whaddya think huh huh?) 

What really bothers me is how these politicians take things and run with it.  I’m sure that I will piss many of you off by saying this, but I do not think a thesis paper written by a man 20 some years ago while he was attending an Evangelical Christian academy in the 1980’s should affect what he says he stands for today.  If he really still thinks that women need to remain home and not work, then why would he hire multiple mothers into his attorney general positions?  Or allow his daughter to become a platoon commander in Iraq???  You don’t hear CNN broadcasting that now, do you?

I think voters forget why we are voting for these people.  We are not voting because we like the way they look, because they wrote a ridiculously offensive paper 20 years ago, or because they can give a speech without stuttering or forgetting their lines.  We are voting for them to do what we want them to do.  I want less traffic in VA and I would like to not be taxed up the butt to get things done in our state.  I would like for our public schools to receive more funding and our teachers to be paid more.  I would love to see longer minimum jail time for sex offenders.  It’s always nice to feel hopeful…
